Sacred Heart Catholic College

Religious Education

At Sacred Heart Catholic Academy, our Religious Education (RE) curriculum is central to our educational approach, deeply rooted in Gospel Values, and our Catholic faith. We aim to provide a meaningful RE curriculum, that nurtures the spiritual, moral, and intellectual development of our students, guided by the Religious Education Directory 'To Know your More Clearly'.

Love
Our curriculum fosters a deep sense of love within our school community. Through studying the Bible and the life of Jesus, students learn about God's infinite love and are encouraged to show love and kindness to others. Lessons on Jesus' teachings, such as the Good Samaritan, highlight the importance of loving our neighbours and caring for those in need.
Respect
Respect is a cornerstone of our curriculum. Students learn to respect themselves, others, and the world around them. Through discussions on the dignity of every human being, regardless of race or creed, as taught by the Catholic Church, students are encouraged to treat everyone with respect and empathy, regardless of differences. The study of the sacraments, like the Eucharist, emphasises the respect due to God and sacred traditions.
Service
Our curriculum emphasizes the importance of service. Inspired by Jesus' example of serving others, students are encouraged to actively participate in service projects and community outreach. By studying contemporary issues and ethical dilemmas, they learn to apply their faith in helping those in need and making a positive impact in their communities.
Ambition

We aim to inspire ambition in our students by encouraging them to strive for personal excellence and to use their talents for the greater good. Through exploring Catholic teachings, students are taught to aim high, not just academically but also morally and spiritually. They are encouraged to develop their gifts and use them to serve God and others.

From Year 7 to Year 13, our RE curriculum aims to empower students to embrace their Catholic faith, develop a personal relationship with God, and live out Gospel Values. By fostering knowledge, critical thinking, and a deep sense of social responsibility, we equip our students to be compassionate, ethical, and engaged members of society, guided by their Catholic faith.
