Free School Meals
Free school meal applications are made via and managed by the Local Authority, visit the relevant website page here
Once a decision has been made on your application, school will be notified and only from that date will your child be entitled to a free school meal allowance.
It is important that if you think that your child might be eligible for free school meals that you apply at the earliest opportunity, eligibility means that school might receive additional funding to support curriculum needs in the form of pupil premium grants.
School Meals – Free School Meals and Account Management
We aim to provide a fair and efficient meal service for all students. Please read the following guidance carefully to ensure your child can access school meals without disruption.
Free School Meals (FSM)
Students eligible for Free School Meals receive a daily allowance of £2.76, which is automatically credited to their account each school day.
- The allowance is intended to cover a nutritious meal.
- If a student spends too much of their allowance at break time, there may not be enough left for lunch.
- Spending above the daily limit will be charged to the student’s account and must be paid by parents/carers. This will not be subsidised by the school.
- No credit will be offered. Accounts must be kept in credit and regularly monitored.
- Parents and carers are encouraged to discuss spending habits with their children to avoid excess charges, financial hardship, or embarrassment.
Non-FSM Students
Students who are not eligible for Free School Meals must ensure their meal account is in credit before the start of term on Tuesday, 3rd September.
- No credit will be offered.
- Students with outstanding balances will not be served by Mellors Catering Ltd.
- These students must bring a packed lunch with snacks and drinks sufficient for the school day.
If you need help managing your child’s account or have any questions, please contact the school office.
We ask parents to ensure that accounts maintain a credit balance, students will not be allowed to go overdrawn without prior approval of the Headteacher.
Where accounts are not maintained in credit, students may not be eligible to attend trips and events where cost would have a further financial impact.
